Getting the interior book block right can be a long and time-consuming process. In
addition to our own title library, we have worked with many POD publishers and are familiar with the digital file requirements, margin settings, resolutions and PDF generation requirements they use.
Here’s how the process works:
1) File Submission: Send us your manuscript as one continuous single spaced file in a Word or
WordPerfect document.
2) Design: We’ll design your end pages, copyright page, table of contents, chapter headings,
book block interior, and generate a PDF file for your review. We work to minimize orphaned text, adjust line leading and kerning, and create appropriate headers & footers for title and page
numbering. Fonts are limited to typefaces we have on hand, but we have over 200 available. The cost of the service through this step is $300. (But see revisions and graphics below)
3) Revisions: You may make up to 20 corrections without additional charge. Thereafter we
charge $1 for each revision made, no matter how minor, and $10 to regenerate a new PDF.
4) Graphics: If you have graphic art that you want inserted into the book block interior, we will
need your artwork as 600dpi grayscale images in .tif file format. Graphic insertion can dramatically alter the book block text flow, so we charge an extra $50 for book blocks that have
any graphics inserted (unless it is in the end page area where auto flow is not an issue. Images that we have to work with here to re-size or format properly for publication will be billed at a rate of $5 per image.
